Windows 11 Release
Microsoft recently announced that Windows 11 will be released this October. Like many of you, we are excited about this change the new features, cloud enhancements, and continuing security protections Microsoft is building into their ecosystem.
However, Windows 10 is still a secure operating system and will be receiving regular security updates for several years. I know some of you feel like you just moved away from Windows 7 and do not want to make this change. Others are excited and want to move to Windows 11 right away. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum First Column IT has your back!
As with the transition from Windows 7 to 10, First Column IT will be vetting the operating system and making sure it is secure and reliable before we recommend it. You trusted First Column IT to help guide you through this transition to Windows 10 and we will be there for you with Windows 11.
You may be asking, what do I need to do to prepare? Here are three simple things you can be doing.
- Stay alert: With industry changes there is more opportunity for scams. First Column IT will help you migrate your current PCs to Windows 11 and you don’t want to get your accounts and systems compromised by nefarious actors. Don’t give money to someone posing as Microsoft…. Microsoft will NEVER call you, and let us perform any upgrades when they become available.
- Be informed: Your line of business software vendors may be reaching out to let you know when their software will be ready for Windows 11. We don’t want to make changes that will disrupt your business and hamper your team’s performance.
- Fire Bullets then Cannonballs: One of my favorite principles from Jim Collin’s Great by Choice is the idea that you invest small in something to make sure it works before investing a lot. First Column IT will be recommending this approach in the beginning of the Windows 11 era. Our team will start transitioning ourselves, then move toward a couple machines at clients that want to be on the forefront. And we will make sure everything is great before we recommend going all in on Windows 11.
We at First Column IT pride ourselves in taking care of your technology so your business can thrive. If you have any questions about Windows 11 feel free to reach out and we can help you get the answers. We look forward to helping your business thrive!
